Inspired by the principles and goals of the GCC and having the desire to realize that more cooperation and fostering the links between them in the areas of trade and services in power the formation of the Authority has been agreed upon.

The GCC Interconnection Authority (GCCIA) is a joint stock company subscribed by the six (6) Gulf States, whose Articles of Association and By-Laws were approved by Royal Decree No. M/21 on July 29, 2001.

The Head Office of the Authority is located in the city of Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia:
